Our school math adoption is Engage New York. This is a rigorous program that encourages children to think conceptually about math as well as practice using math in written and oral discussion. Please refer to the following links to help you better understand what your child is learning in class. Because of this rigor, it is ESSENTIAL that your child master his/her facts fluency. Students should already have addition and subtraction facts memorized as we begin multiplication and division the third week of school. I have listed facts fluency links to help motivate your child.

In 3rd Grade we use a Mind Map to help students organize their ideas to write as well as decompose a paragraph. The Mind Map tool allows students to understand structure of text. All writing will be graded using the Common Core Rubric or the Six Traits Rubric.
